ABOUT RUEDA

The Verdejo
Kingdom

Rueda is placed in the North plateau, following the river Duero. Surrounded by renowned appelations of red wines, Rueda has its uniqueness thanks to white wines. Moreover, thanks to a indigenous white grape variety, Verdejo. It is grown in very poor soils, limestone with different percentages of clays. The continental climate, with cold and dry winter and hot summers of chilly nights, set up the character of this incredible grape. The soil is chalky, loose and very stony surface, which favors drainage.

ALEGRA

We work on 6 main plots, in total 300 has, planted with Verdejo and Sauvignon Blanc and grown on trellises. The soil is chalky, loose and very stony surface, which favors drainage. Altitude between 700 and 800 meters above sea level, the climate is continental with Atlantic influence: winters are very cold and long, short springs and hot dry summers. The huge temperature gap between day and night (can drop from 27ºC to 6ºC) it is the secret to a slow maturation that balances sugar and acids.

OUR WINES FROM RUEDA

ALEGRA VERDEJO

GRAPE VARIETY

Verdejo 100%.

Soils

Very poor, calcareous with pebbles.

Winemaking process

Manual harvest. Grapes are macerated with skins for a few hours and pressed lightly. Fermentation occurs at controlled temperature in stainless steel tanks; once achieved, wine is gently stabilized, filtered and fined before bottling.

TASTING NOTES

Fresh, crispy and slightly herbaceous (in fact, word Verdejo comes from Verde, in Spanish green). A true character of Verdejo reflecting our terroir: poor soils and a continental climate with sunny days and cool nights which produces fresh wines intensely fruity.

OUR WINES FROM RUEDA

ALEGRA SAUVIGNON

GRAPE VARIETY

Sauvignon blanc 100%.

Straw yellow in color with greenish reflections, intense and aromatic with a slight mineral touch. Its intense aromatic expression is an exceptional sum of vegetal notes and exotic fruits (passion fruit), with hints of freshly cut grass with a slight mineral touch. In the mouth it presents the typicality of the Sauvignon blanc, that fresh and clean elegance.
