ABOUT RIOJA

Rioja wines

The geographical features have contributed to forming a natural region that is perfectly delimited and differentiated from those around it. The undulating landscape shapes hills and valleys and so many microclimates enhancing all the shades of Tempranillo.

The whole area benefits from the confluence of two widely opposing climates (Atlantic and Mediterranean) with an annual rainfall of a little above 400 l/m2 and mild temperatures, ideal conditions for grape growing.

MILENRAMA

A top the mountains, Peña Isasa and Siera de yerga, down the gentle landscape scattered with hills and valleys opening at the bottom to the Cidacos river; all packed vineyards. So this is the Rioja.

A distinctly Mediterranean climate, with four seasons: a rigorous and dry winter, a rainy and cool spring, hot summer but cool nights, and finally a dry autumn in which, a soft October leads to a cold November. Thanks to the influence of the high mountains the dry atmosphere maintains a healthy plant.

So far from uniformity, the Rioja creates a mosaic of different plots with their own personality. A very rich land,  as it offers their wines.

More than 40 hectares are certified as organic since 1998, which makes them the first ecological vineyards in Rioja. Vineyards are located in the Mediterranean area of La Rioja: between Calahorra and Andosilla. Where the winters are cold while the springs and autumns are temperate and rainy, contrast with hot, dry summers. The terroir are composed of limestone, sands with different percentages of clay.
