Origin

Two grapes: Tempranillo and Grenache

one origin, La Rioja,

and two sisters where all starts.

Because we believe in the little everyday happiness, the meetings to be held and shared pleasures, we have created this wine: good wine for any time at an affordable price.

This wines comes from La Rioja (but not attached to the DO) and is made from:

  • Tempranillo brings the intensity and powerful whilst
  • Garnacha, more delicate and soft, gives the touch of freshness and brilliance.
Region

Near Fuenmayor (La Rioja ) Tempranillo and Garnacha vineyards for Obaya are placed. Some of the plots are grown in the traditional gobelet pruning, and other trellised.

In a landscape of hills, protected from the sea influence by Sierra Cantabria mountains, the altitude ranges between 400 and 700m.

The climate is continental with cold winters and hot dry summers.

The soil is mainly calcareous clay with different concentrations.

Winery

The old traditional Rioja winery was completely renovated in the late 90s to become a modern winery and thus introduce new winemaking techniques. Now it has stainless steel tanks for fermentation and an important park of casks for aging.

Characteristics

Grape variety: tempranillo y garnacha

Region: Table wine from vineyards next to Fuenmayor (La Rioja).

Elaboration: Wine is fermented in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperature and macerasted for some days. after, wine is aged for 4 months in 2nd and 3rd years old oak barrels.

Tasting note

Purple red, bright color. In the nose, it is very fruity, with red berries and slight toasty aromas. In the palate, it is velvety, with smooths tanins and a soft and fine aftertaste.

Pairing

The philosophy comes from the vineyard and from the grape. We want to share the joyful of life: a fine wine for every moment at an affordable price. Because of that, we recommend Obaya with daily meals: meat, roasted, pasta, cheese, charcuterie… It is also the perfect wine for tapas and casual meetings.
