About the Project

Can Xa is the nickname of our family in their hometown of Barcelona. As a tribute to them, we have created this cava, trying to express the essence of this Mediterranean region: intense, fresh, aromatic, lively and vibrant… Made to enjoy.

About the region

With a clear Mediterranean influence, Penedes has a long tradition on sparkling elaborated by the traditional or champenois method. Thanks to the soft Mediterranean climate and clay soils, the grape has the optimum conditions of maturity.

Winery

Masia Puigmoltò is placed in an old farmhouse in Castellet and Gornal area (Penedès, Barcelona) and of which there is written record dating back to 1186. The vineyard consists of 48 hectares of clayey soil, low in organic material and chalk which brings the acidity necessary to maintain the fresh taste of our cavas.

A traditional Catalan farmhouse, the Masia, hides inside a modern winery, counting on trunk-conic stainless steel tanks, cold equipment… and all the vanguard technology required to elaborate quality wines.

One of the most emblematic parts of the winery is the impressive structure of cava. This is a rather unique dome-shaped building 10 meters deep allowing naturally maintain a constant temperature (around 14 ° C) throughout the year.

CAN XA BRUT

Characteristics

Variety: Xarello, Macabeo, Parellada

Appellation: D.O. Cava

Viticulture: Sustainable viticulture, espalier system, vines between 20-40 years on clay soils.

Elaboration: by the champenoise or traditional method. Second fermentation in the bottle and aged for 12 months on lees before disgorgement.

Tasting note

Pale yellow color, fine and homogeneus bubbles; citrus notes, together with orange peel and bakery. Fresh and vibrant in the mouth with a light sweety aftertaste of fruits.

Pairing

It is perfect for the appetizers; also with tasty fish, salads, pasta and rice as well as a variety of soft and blue cheese. Also recommended for sweet and sour flavors and oriental or spicy food.

CAN XA BRUT NATURE

Variety: Xarello, Macabeo, Parellada

Appellation: D.O. Cava

Viticulture: Sustainable viticulture, espalier system, vines between 20-40 years on clayey soils.

Elaboration: by the champenoise or traditional method. Second fermentation in the bottle and aged for 12 months on lees before disgorgement.

Tasting note

Pale yellow with fine and homogeneous bubbles. The nose is very lively, with citrus notes and a slight feeling of yeast and nuts. In the mouth, the bubble is very well integrated and not at all aggressive. It is extremely bright and fresh with a final impression of joy and liveliness.

Pairing

It is perfect for the appetizers; also with tasty fish, salads, pasta and rice as well as a variety of soft and blue cheese. Also recommended for sweet and sour flavors and oriental or spicy food.

CAN XA ROSE

Characteristics

Variety: 100% Pinot noir

Appellation: D.O. Cava

Viticulture: Sustainable viticulture, espalier system, vines between 20-40 years on clayey soils.

Elaboration: by the champenoise or traditional method. Second fermentation in the bottle and aged for 12 months on lees before disgorgement.

Tasting note

Raspberry pink, fine and homogeneous bubbles. The nose is very clean, with hints of red fruits and bakery aromas. In the mouth, the bubble is very well integrated, tingly. With a very nice impression red fruit it is extremely fresh and leaves a light and very pleasant aftertaste.

It is perfect for the appetizers; also with tasty fish, salads, pasta and rice as well as a variety of soft and blue cheese. Also recommended for sweet and sour flavors and oriental or spicy food.
